Daily CSU COVID-19 Updates

 Past 24 Hours

  • Women’s Basketball Coach Chris Kielsmeier tested positive for COVID-19, the CSU community’s first confirmed case. Individuals who may have been in close contact with Coach are being contacted and advised to self-isolate.
  • All CSU on-campus dining has either closed or gone to take-out status in compliance with Governor DeWine’s guidance closing all bars and restaurants in Ohio as of 9 p.m. Sunday night.
  • CSU is finalizing plans to suspend all non-essential, on-campus operations beginning Tuesday, March 17 until at least Monday, April 13. The status and reduced hours of student and administrative services will be announced on Monday and posted on the website. Other information relating to COVID-19 can be found at https://www.csuohio.edu/coronavirus-update/coronavirus-update.
  • CSU surveyed our students this week to identify who might need a laptop, internet access or special consideration to participate in remote courses that are scheduled to begin March 23. Guidance on how students can check out equipment will be forthcoming later this week.

 New FAQs

Questions we’re receiving from the CSU community:

Q1. I have concerns about accessing course content when remote classes begin on Monday, March 23. What should I do?
To ensure all our students receive high quality instruction when we move to remote learning on March 23, we ask students who have not yet done so to please fill out a survey to assist us in this process: https://www.csuohio.edu/coronavirus-update/remote-learning-survey. If you are not able to access the survey for any reason, please call Campus 411 for guidance at 216-687-5411.

Q2. Will faculty and staff have access to their offices to retrieve equipment and materials needed for teaching or working remotely?
Yes. Faculty and staff are able to come to their offices on Monday, March 16, to pick up what they need for delivering remote classes beginning March 23 or working from home beginning on March 17 as we suspend all non-essential on-campus operations until at least April 13.

Q3. Will any refunds be given for room and board or other costs?
Room and board costs will be pro-rated for the remainder of the year for all students leaving campus and completely vacating their housing. Additional information on calculating and processing refunds will be forthcoming

Q4. What about students involved in clinical programs or practicums off campus?
We anticipate that clinical programs will continue as long as the hosting partner organizations continue to be able to accommodate our students. At least one of our partners has indicated that they may focus only on clinicals that are part of certification/licensure programs during this period. Check with your school/college administration or academic advisor for more specifics.
