Daily CSU COVID-19 Updates

 Past 24 Hours

  • CSU will extend remote delivery of classes through the end of the semester on May 8, which includes Final Exam week. The university will be closing all residence halls with limited exceptions. Move-out will be tightly controlled to avoid crowds and residents will sign up for a time to move out. Read more here.
  • Students needing Internet access should contact their local Internet provider now to explore what services are available. If they still need internet or computer access for remote classes and have yet to communicate that to the University, students should complete this survey. If you are not able to access the survey for any reason, please call Campus 411 for guidance at 216-687-5411.
  • CSU will postpone Spring Commencement ceremonies scheduled for May 9 and School of Law Commencement ceremonies scheduled for May 16 to comply with CDC guidelines on mass gatherings. Alternate dates have not yet been set. More details will be shared with the CSU community as they are decided. Graduates will still have their degrees conferred on May 9 and May 16. Paper diplomas will be mailed to graduates shortly thereafter. Read more here.
  • Effective immediately, the university has ended all CSU-sponsored domestic travel through the end of the semester. We will re-evaluate this as the situation evolves.
  • The Cleveland State University Foundation today announced that it is postponing this year’s Radiance event to raise funds for CSU scholarships that was scheduled for April 28.

 New FAQs

Questions we’re receiving from the CSU community:

Q1. My roommate doesn’t have any symptoms, but was a close contact of someone with Coronavirus and was asked to self-quarantine. Should I also self-quarantine?
The CDC does not recommend that contacts of contacts self-quarantine at this time. Your roommate should be self-monitoring for respiratory symptoms and to check for fever at least twice daily, seeking medical advice and testing if they develop symptoms and a fever. If your roommate doesn’t develop symptoms or a fever, then there is no need for you to do anything other than what has already been recommended: wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your face, practice respiratory etiquette, and stay away from sick people.

Q2. If faculty and staff still need something from their office, will they still have access?
Faculty and staff will have card access through regular business hours. They should coordinate that with their department chair or supervisor. If they need assistance, they should call campus security at 216-687-2020.

Q3. Can faculty and staff work from their office?
No. Faculty and staff should quickly retrieve what they need and leave.

Q4. With remote learning now extended for the rest of the semester, will the residence halls close?
The residence halls will close and students will be required to move out their belongings. A controlled process for limiting the number of students in the buildings will ensure we continue to keep our campus community safe. Details of this process will be communicated directly to residential students by midnight tonight and posted at the Residence Life website.

Q5. Now that Spring Commencement and the Law School commencement have been postponed, will there be any delay in receiving my degree?
No. Graduates will still have their degrees conferred on May 9 and May 16, respectively. Paper diplomas will be mailed to graduates shortly thereafter. Read more here.
