Cleveland State University

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

Cleveland State University is closely monitoring the coronavirus situation and assessing the potential impact to the campus community. This includes coordination with the Cleveland Department of Public Health, the Ohio Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control.

While public health officials describe the immediate health risk as low, we will work with our offices of Health & Wellness Services and Environmental Health and Safety, as well as with local hospitals, including Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals and MetroHealth, to be prepared to safeguard the health and safety of students, faculty and staff.

Unless you have recently traveled to or from China or have been in close contact with someone ill with this new virus, your risk of getting sick is low. If you have traveled to China and are experiencing signs and symptoms — such as fever, coughing or shortness of breath — contact your doctor before going to the office. CSU students who have traveled to China and are experiencing symptoms should contact Health & Wellness Services at 216.687.3649 before seeking care.

This is a rapidly developing situation and we will provide updated information to the campus community as it becomes available. You can also find additional information on the websites of the Centers for Disease Control and the Ohio Department of Health.

Sincerely,

Randall C. Deike, PhD
