Cleveland State University

Dear Campus Community:

CSU administration, AAUP-CSU Chapter, and AAUP-CSU-LS Chapter are pleased to announce that the parties have reached an agreement to extend the current Collective Bargaining Agreements for one year, until August 15, 2021. The extension agreement provides for union membership to take temporary, stratified salary reductions that are tied to the salary reductions that CSU administrators have taken to help fill the budgetary shortfall that the University is facing due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The AAUP and AAUP-LS membership ratified the agreement and the CSU Board of Trustees approved the agreement at its September 17, 2020 meeting. The parties have agreed to return to the table in the spring to negotiate a three-year agreement. We believe that the stability of a one year extension will allow the parties to focus on delivering a first rate education to our students during these challenging and uncertain times, and will allow the parties to come together again when there is more certainty about the long-term consequences of the pandemic. The University administration and faculty unions will continue to work together to emerge from the pandemic as partners working to create a stronger Cleveland State University.
