College of Education earns highest ranking ever by U.S. News   Dr. Tachelle Banks named Associate Dean for Faculty and External Affairs

The Cleveland State University College of Education and Human Services has earned its highest ranking ever in the 2020 U.S. News and World Report Rankings of Graduate Schools. Our college earned its best ranking at 118th in the nation. The reputation of the College among other college Deans and Faculty, and the feedback from P-12 personnel in the community is part of the ranking. This is influenced greatly by the good work done by each person in the College of Education and Human Services. Read More

 

Congratulations to Dr. Tachelle Banks on being named Associate Dean for Faculty and External Affairs for the Cleveland State University College of Education and Human Services. Dr. Banks, a Professor of Special Education and the Associate Vice President of Institutional Diversity, had served as Chair of the Teacher Education Department. Read More

 
CSU joins national initiative to improve education for those with special needs   Dr. Debbie Jackson named Interim Department Chair of Teacher Education

Cleveland State University has been selected by the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education as one of the founding members of its Reducing the Shortage of Special Education Teachers Networked Improvement Community (NIC). This select group of higher education leaders from across the country will examine effective ways to address special education teacher recruitment and retention. Read More

 

Congratulations to Dr. Debbie Jackson who has accepted the role of Interim Department Chair in Teacher Education. Dr. Jackson officially started her new responsibilities on July 15. Dr. Tachelle Banks, the former Department Chair in Teacher Education, began her new role as Interim Associate Dean for Faculty and External Affairs on July 1. Read More

 
New program allows education students to serve as full-time teachers   Faculty Profile: Dr. Jeremy Genovese

A new program created by Cleveland State University’s Master of Urban Secondary Teaching (MUST) Program will allow education students to get full-time teaching experience while completing their degrees. Teach, Earn & Learn will partner with local school districts to offer full-time substitute teaching positions to qualified master’s in education students. Read More

 

About 10 years ago, Dr. Brian Harper received a call from his wife that their five-year-old son had been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. “Even though I was fairly knowledgeable about developmental psychology and the options available to me, this news hit me very hard,” says Harper, an associated professor of education in Cleveland State University’s Department of Curriculum and Foundations (C&F). His first stop was to the office of Dr. Jeremy Genovese a fellow associate professor in C&F. Read More

 
WKYC-TV Meteorologist Betsy Kling delivers Keynote Address at 2019 STEM Education Conference   New and familiar faces join the College of Education and Human Services

More than 200 teachers and STEM professionals from across Ohio spent two days at the Wolstein Center at Cleveland State University for the 12th annual STEM Education Conference, sponsored by Nordson and Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN). The event was headlined by a Keynote Address from WKYC-TV Channel 3 Meteorologist Betsy Kling. Read More
