The Lead

  • Beginning today, CSU will award an additional $6 million in Lift Up Vikes! emergency grants to help students manage financial challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grants of up to $2,500 are available to help with expenses such as housing, food, course materials, technology and childcare. Eligibility will depend on student circumstances. The additional aid is from the federal CARES Act as well as generous CSU donors. Students can find a link to an application form at the top of the page when they log onto CampusNet.
  • CSU President Harlan Sands will conduct his weekly live virtual Town Hall this Wednesday, April 29 and 1 p.m. ET, on the university’s Facebook page. If you miss the live event, an archived replay will be available following the Town Hall. Archived replays of the presents prior virtual Town Halls are also available on the page.

Student Engagement and Support

  • In addition to a variety of free group and individual counseling services available through the CSU Counseling Center, the State of Ohio has launched a COVID Careline to provide additional mental health counseling to all Ohioans. The Careline, at 1-800-720-9616, is available 24/7 and is staffed by Ohio licensed counselors from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and rolls over to a national service outside of those hours.

Questions we’re receiving:

  • I applied for a Lift Up Vikes! emergency grant – if my application is approved, how soon will I receive the grant money?
The Office of Financial Aid will process grant requests as quickly as possible. Eligible students whose applications are approved, and who have signed up for direct deposit, should see funds start to be issued within a day or two of approval. Students without direct deposit will receive a check through the mail.
  • I have rental textbooks, but with the bookstore closed how do I return them?
Students can generate a free return shipping label through their account on the bookstore website, or through the reminder email they will receive 14 days prior to the return due date. The bookstore has prepared these FAQs to walk students through the return process, as well as how to sell owned textbooks. You can also email csuohio@bkstr.com if you have more questions.
  • Under Governor DeWine's Responsible Restart Ohio guidelines, will faculty and staff be returning to campus for summer?
Faculty and staff will continue to work remotely until further notice. We will continue to monitor the guidance of public health officials, the state and federal government and the CDC to determine when, and under what conditions, it is appropriate to return to campus, and we will keep the campus community updated.
