The Lead

  • CSU President Harlan Sands will hold a virtual Town Hall for the campus community this Wednesday, May 13, at 1:00 p.m. ET on the university’s Facebook page. If you miss the live event, an archived replay will be available on the site.  Replays of the president’s prior town halls are also available on the site.
  • To gather input on their overall experience with remote teaching and learning during spring semester, students received a brief text survey to their mobile phones on Saturday. It’s not too late to complete the survey to help assess ways to improve future course delivery.
  • Plans are moving forward for CSU’s first-ever virtual commencement on Saturday, May 30, at 1 p.m. ET. Initial information on what to expect and how to participate were sent to graduates on Friday to their CSU email accounts. (Law grads will receive a separate email message.) Broader communication to the campus community will be forthcoming.  A list of frequently asked questions has been created on the Commencement page of the CSU website and will be updated regularly as the event approaches.

For Faculty and Staff

  • The Office of Student Learning Assessment is asking interested CSU faculty and staff to consider serving as 2020 assessment reviewers for this summer and fall. These peer review sessions represent a valuable opportunity to support student-centered learning particularly during our current remote learning environment. Please contact Dr. Graham Stead g.b.stead@csuohio.edu for more information.

Questions we’re receiving:

  • Even though there won’t be an in-person commencement, how can students who want to purchase graduation regalia do so?
Regalia, including full sets for Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates can be ordered through the CSU bookstore website. Given minimal staffing in the bookstore, please be patient with fulfillment turnaround.
  • With no in-person commencement, how will graduates receive their diplomas, or, for honors graduates, their honors medallions?
All graduates will receive a “grad box” that will include their diploma, diploma cover, commencement program booklet, and, if applicable, their honors medallion. The boxes are expected to begin mailing to students in early June.
